Community Futures aims to develop and support balanced and sustainable communities throughout Lancashire.
The organisation is registered as Community Council of Lancashire but uses Community Futures as a working title. It was founded in 1934 in Manchester with the aim of relieving poverty during the depression years. The activity of the organisation has changed over time, but the focus has always been on the provision of services to support, develop and sustain community life.
Working across the whole county, we support, develop and empower local communities in a number of ways; helping to secure grant aid and statutory funding for communities to improve their physical and social environments (anything from refurbishing the community centre to providing defibrillators in local shops), providing the right information to community groups that need to know how to maintain or develop services (How do you write a tender? How do you get money for a good idea?), delivering a broad range of training to give community groups, voluntary organisations and individuals the confidence to make changes for themselves or the people they help.

Whilst we encourage people to come and visit our offices. You’ll always be offered a guided tour and a cup of tea! We enjoy taking our services to our members so we can get a real idea of how they operate and get to meet some of the people they support.
